Born and raised in the heart of Lucknow, now calling Bangalore home, I’ve poured my soul into reviving and redefining one of India’s most exquisite handcraft traditions. The Birth of Tanzeb Chikankari: Reviving Pure Handcrafted Tradition
Tanzeb — the name evokes purity and grace. It specifically refers to the pristine white muslin fabric adorned with delicate white-on-white cotton thread embroidery, the most authentic and original expression of Chikankari dating back over 200 years in Lucknow.
In 2016, I founded Tanzeb Chikankari after witnessing the heartbreaking dilution of this heritage craft in the market — poor quality, machine shortcuts, and unfair compensation for artisans. Determined to restore its glory, I spent over a couple of years immersed in the villages around Lucknow. Starting with just ₹14,000 and a small, passionate team (including two dedicated sisters), we set out to create authentic handcrafted Chikankari that honors tradition while embracing contemporary elegance.
